Off the track in the spring of 2006, "Nick" was a mediocre racehorse, winner at three of two races, but an unimpressive record as a whole. Even with this lackluster start on the track, this son of "Dumaani," record setter at a mile, promises to still have the speed necessary for the cross country course. Nick was purchased from Cool Meadows in November of 2006 as a prospective event horse. Conformationally, he impressed with his large hind end and lovely neck. With only two weeks of training off the track he was already offering up self-carriage, collection, and flying lead changes. His light, airy way of going and enthusiastic reponse to jumping made him an easy choice.
Nick made incredible progress in the few months he was with us. His flat work has became regular and easy as he started to become much more supple both laterally and longitudinally. He was starting more advanced lateral work and extensions at the trot and walk. Nick placed in both his competitions in 2007, a 5th at his first Beginner Novice event and winning his first Novice, finishing on his dressage score both times (38.5 and 32.0 respectively).
Nick was sold to a young rider from North Georgia and we wish her the best of luck with Nick in the future, what a great horse to move up the levels together with!
UPDATE!
Nick and his new owner have been doing great! I have enjoyed all the new updates and it looks like Nick is attracting some attention from some big-name trainers as well, how exciting!! Congrats!
