Rick was purchased from Lionshare farm in Connecticut in 1999.  He had competed in the high preliminaries in show jumping before Erika bought him.  Rick was tall, lean, athletic, and somewhat "type-A."  He was incredibly brave and fast on cross county and very careful in the show jumping. Dressage left much to be desired. Nevertheless, Rick went from his first event at training level to taking Erika to her first intermediate in less than seven months. 

Rick and Erika competed at the Midsouth CCI*, unfortunately Rick was injured on steeplechase and they withdrew from the competition.  Erika sold Rick in the spring of 2001 to a fellow young rider in Maine.  Sadly, Rick passed away in 2002.
