Pit was purchase in early 2003 by Rebecca Grey. He had been a very successful preliminary horse with a young rider including a medal at the Young Riders Championships. Erika took pit to several preliminaries, placing at every event, before moving up to intermediate. The pair competed very successfully at intermediate including a win at Millbrook.
Pit was quite a character in the stable. He did not like staying turned out too long and would frequently jump out of his paddock to his stall if he felt he was forgotten. He was a very steady, lovely dressage horse and usually was in the top three. He was a schoolmaster on cross-country and would take care of any mistake you made, except at the corners. He was generally good in the show jumping, albeit slightly lazy with his hind end. To get a clear round you had to earn it, but he would respond to good riding.
Pit returned to Rebecca after the 2003 season and she made the move up to preliminary. The pair competed very successfully at that level until he was again sold in 2005 to another young rider. Look for Pit around in Area II.
